Assamese is the official language of the state of Assam of India. It is an Indo-Aryan language and spoken by 25 million speakers worldwide. Bangla Desh, Nepal, Bhutan, US and UK are some of the other countries where Assamese speakers live. Its nearest language is Bengali.
